Data Sources
Technical documentation, source repositories, publications, release records and other domain-relevant information sources.
SOURCE CONTEXTSTRUCTURAL OBSERVABILITY ACROSS TIME
Information changes. Technical dependencies evolve. Relationships emerge, persist and disappear.
REL31 is developing an observability platform that makes the structural evolution of information investigable across time.
In development · Concept preview
Observe structure. Preserve history. Investigate change.
SCROLL TO INVESTIGATE ↓01 / THE IDEA
Technical systems evolve continuously. The latest diagram may no longer provide the context you need.
Software components change. Dependencies are replaced. Documentation is updated. Research findings are revised. Months later, an engineer may need to understand an earlier state.
By retaining bounded observations, historical relationships and their source context, REL31 aims to make earlier source representations and their development available for later investigation.
The question may arrive tomorrow.
The observation may need to begin today.
02 / THE OBSERVATION MODEL
A reconstructable observation foundation.
Meaning and decisions remain with people
or their chosen tools.
Technical documentation, source repositories, publications, release records and other domain-relevant information sources.
SOURCE CONTEXTDomain-specific methods identify and represent bounded structural relationships in the available source material.
BOUNDED OBSERVATIONThe proposed foundation preserves identifiable observations, temporal context and provenance for later comparison.
HISTORICAL STATESEngineers and researchers examine historical relationships, source evidence and remaining uncertainties.
HUMAN INTERPRETATIONREL31 does not automatically decide what an observation means.
03 / A TECHNICAL EXAMPLE
Which technical dependencies were documented before Release 3, what changed afterward, and what evidence supports that comparison?
Illustrative scenario · Synthetic records · Not a live REL31 demonstration.
Represented path: Client A → Adapter B → Service D.
SOURCE BASIS / SYN-ARCH-001
An architecture document represents Client A → Adapter B → Service D.
Two documented relationships: Client A → Adapter B and Adapter B → Service D.
This is the earlier representation. A later source is needed to compare documented structures.
An engineer can examine this source as evidence of documented architecture, not as proof of every running deployment.
OBSERVATION ≠ OPERATIONAL REALITYA change in documentation does not prove that all operational deployments changed.
T0 · SYN-ARCH-001: An architecture document represents Client A → Adapter B → Service D.
T1 · SYN-REL-003: A release note states that Adapter B is deprecated and Gateway C is recommended for new integrations. It does not establish a completed migration.
T2 · SYN-ARCH-002: A later architecture overview represents Client A → Gateway C → Service D.
T3 · Investigation: An engineer compares the two documented paths and the intervening release note. The deployment state and exact operational transition remain unestablished.
04 / THREE FOUNDATIONAL PROPERTIES
What was observed at an earlier point?
The design objective is to make historical structural observations identifiable and examinable, rather than allowing earlier records to disappear behind current representations.
Which sources supported the observation?
Provenance and observation conditions should remain connected to the structural history. Source traceability does not establish truth.
How did the observed relationships change?
The approach emphasizes development across time rather than isolated present-day snapshots.
The meaning behind the REL31 identity. A brand metaphor, not a mandatory four-layer runtime architecture or a claim to one universal truth.
05 / POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS
Investigate how documented architectures, technical dependencies and evidence relationships evolve across releases and configuration changes.
Explore the development of structural relationships, source contexts and observed changes across scientific and technical information.
Investigate how different bounded information fields could be observed through domain-specific inputs and observation methods.
Potential applications and development directions. Not established commercial products or validated customer deployments.
06 / PLATFORM DIRECTION
REL31 is being explored both as a standalone observability instrument and as a shared technological foundation for specialized applications.
Different domains may require different sources, structural definitions and observation interfaces. The common principle remains the preservation and investigation of bounded structural observations across time.
Bounded observations
Historical context · Source provenance
Future extensions, internally called modulators, remain an architectural and product-development direction.
Public SDKs, downloadable developer modules, open-source licensing and generally available integrations are not established commitments.
07 / ORIGIN
REL31 emerged from Refinery, an engineering and research initiative within CRE-One.
The development focuses on observing structural relationships, preserving their historical context and maintaining a clear distinction between observation, evidence, interpretation and authority.
REL31 is the public identity of this emerging technology. Refinery remains its internal name.
The objective is not to decide what the world means.
It is to preserve more of whatGET IN TOUCH
Technical systems change. Documentation evolves. Relationships disappear from current representations.
But the questions that matter may arise months or years later.
Which earlier states would you want to revisit? Which dependencies would you need to trace? What source evidence would make a historical investigation possible?
